Meetup #3

It has been about a year + since we've met up with the East TN Social Dog Meetup group.. you may remember I took David one time, and Rob another. Both times had a lot of fun, but  you know. Life happens.

... and they, being an older group of people, scheduled a lot of walks during the morning hours of the week, so I feasibly haven't been able to make many.

However this weekend, they advertised a walk for Saturday afternoon, so I jumped on the chance to get out of my house with my (now amazingly friendly) dog.

This walk was up a mountain bike trail in the western part of Knoxville, and far enough away from people that we felt comfortable taking the dogs off leash.

Texas had an absolute blast.

As I stated in my last post, he still has some initial car issues, so He wanted to come tearing out of the car, but once we got him re-focused, he met all the dogs calmly, tolerated the human touches and was more than ready to take off once we started walking.

Once we got to the top of the ridge, and far enough away from the road, some started let their dogs off leash. Texas and his newest bud a pit mix named Walter, lead the group the entire two hour walk. We walked much to slow for them, so stayed within sight range, but never walked with the group.

Texas would frequently come find me, check in, get a treat and take off again. I've not seen him have this much fun... ever. He got the zoomies close to the end of the walk and would run as fast he could down the trail, then turn around and run as fast as he could back to me, before taking off again.

Once we arrived home he crashed hard.

Needless to say, we've already RSVP'd for several walks in the near future. :)
