Removal of the Lab Card

Today it is with our deepest regrets that we remove Tally's Lab card. What's a "Lab Card" you ask? Basically a card stating all things that are lab:

• Destructiveness
• Friendly 
• Hyperactivity 
• Large
• Obsession with certain objects such as sticks and balls 
• Total lack of body awarness 
• Hypersensitive to food/ food oders/ potentail food oders and non-food oders 
• Love of water

.... you get the picture. All criteria have to be met in order for a lab to be considered pure. Today we have discovered, to our immense dismay, that Tally has failed the water test. And by failed we mean, well... failed.

Did she get wet? Yes.

Did she get four paws in the water? Yes. 

Did I get in the water? Yes.

Did a friend and I both get in the water? Yes.

Did we bodily lift her and place her in the water? Yes.

Did she swim? Yes. Right back to shore. 

In her defense, she really, really wanted to, but the ramp leading into the water ended too abrutly for her, fearful tastes so after time she stumbled off the age she'd hop right back onto shore. She really wanted to follow the other dogs into the water. She run in chest deep and stop. She'd climb on the rocks around the side, and stop ... 

[Speaking of rocks, I must take a moment to rant here..<rant> why on earth would you use sharp rocks to border a pond specifically for dogs? only providing exit points on one side of the pond, then surrounding the rest doesn't seem logical to me. </endrant>]

Run right up to the edge, and stop. 

After a while we were all soaked, and she was finally tired. 

Of course you always meet some interesting people at the park, and today's person of interest was the owner of a beautiful Cane Corso named .... wait for it ... Pretty Girl.  However he kept asking if I wanted to trade, and then let me knwo that my dog was more aggressive than his ... Then when I told him how old she was, asked me who told me that she was 10 months because she looked more like seven. 

Its hard to remember how small these large breed dogs are, when you have a gino-breed. Yes perhaps she looks like a seven month old Cane corso... but she's actually big for a lab pup. It probably didn't help that the other labs in the park were well over 100lbs. 

He also leashed her a couple of times and pretended to leave with her.  It was kind of funny, but a little unnerving too, so we packed up shortly after.
