"Is that a German shepherd?"
"He looks like he's got some greyhound in him!"
"He's got some collie in him doesn't he?"

"I thought I heard a dog bark! I was about to get onto somebody! But its ok, he's got his cape on so he's ok."
"I'm just letting him sniff me!"
"Did you shave him or something?"
"Oh look! A smooth coat collie!" [!!!!]
"What a beautiful dog!"
"You have a different dog every time I see you!"
(Which is about once a year so it figures)
"Is that a coyote?"

I met a service dog in training that I recognized as a flat coated retriever and I thought her handler was going to kiss me on the lips!
