Welcome To Our Blog
Welcome to Raising Rob, this blog is a journey of one small pups life in training to become a guide dog. My name is Erin and I am a volunteer with the Guide Dog Foundation for the Blind. Rob is the 5th puppy I've raised for GDF.
My first was a Golden Retriever named Jake, who was what we call Career Changed at six-months old. My second was a Labrador Retriever named Rei, who graduated as a guide dog Twice! Her first handler (Blind person)passed away and she was sent back to GDF, to be placed with someone else; she graduated with her new handler in November, and is working hard at being the best guide ever! My third puppy was also a Labrador Retriever named Midnight, and she graduated as a breeder! So she'll be the mommy of many, many guide dogs in the future! Pompei was my fourth and first Lab/Golden mix, he is currently back at the Foundation beginning his formal training. Then we have Rob who is the son of Midnight and sponsored by a GDF grad.
